Job Title: Principal/Senior Software Engineer
Reports to: Test Project Manager

Purpose of role:

To take the leading role in the development and implementation of Our client's Client Provisioning test infrastructure.

Key responsibilities/activities: (responsibility areas and identify the key activities for each)

Responsible for the testing of Our client's Client Provisioning Software.
The individual will design and develop the client provisioning test infrastructure with input from the development and test team who provide automation services to all development projects. The individual will develop a test suite using some or all of C, Java and Perl that will run on workstations and mobile devices, and that can be executed automatically wherever possible.

Person Specification:

Formal education & training:

Degree in a computing or engineering discipline.

Experience:

Strong senior technical person with a minimum of 5 years’ experience involving development or test development, ideally in a Telecomm/Wireless environment, where code size and resource usage is optimal.

Mandatory Experience:

3-5 years experience in C programming in an NT or UNIX development environment. Experience of C development for embedded systems.

Familiarity with any mobile operating systems, eg CE, MS Stinger, Nucleus

Knowledge of communications protocol standards: TDMA, CDMA, SMS, HTTP, TCP/IP: and Wireless systems: GSM, GPRS, EDGE, etc.

Knowledge of architecture of handheld devices

Hands on trouble shooting experience with the cell phone devices

Optional Experience:

Remote updating of devices.
Knowledge of Java and KVM (J2ME MIDp).
Awareness of the Application Management Systems (AMS).
Experience with client-server testing.
Perl Programming.
Ability to write Technical Documents.
