job_title: Software Engineer 3G Mobile Telecoms Hampshire to 40K

description: This role is to support the software development team on the GSM RF test platform. The system integrates RF test and analysis equipment and is controlled by a Windows PC running a C++ control and user interface application. The application takes the mobile under test through various test scenarios such as adding high interference levels, measuring the quality of the mobiles modulation etc according the conformance test specifications for GSM phase 2 and 2+. The engineer will analyse and implement test cases on this platform, identify and fix bugs and implement changes due to core specification development. Occasionally this will be performed on a customer site when there is a problem outside of the scope of the normal maintenance.

Key Responsibilities: - Design and development of RF test cases in ‘C/C++’ on Windows platform - Analysis of core requirements and propose/implement test solutions - Support customers when the problem is outside the scope of routine maintenance

Skills Required

Essential: - 2/3 years commercial experience of programming in C/C++ - Experience of GSM/GPRS L2/L3 protocols - Good understanding of GSM/GPRS L1

Highly Desirable: - Experience with Borland Builder C++ - Knowledge of RF conformance testing

Educational Requirements: - Honours degree or equivalent HND experience Communications, Electronics, Computer Science, Physics or Mathematics

Other Information: May include some overseas travel
